4 Man of the Match awards in 4 games: Former La Masia gem trending among Barca fans

Takefusa Kubo has been on fire this season.

The Japanese winger started the La Liga campaign with 3 goals and one assist in 4 matches. He has won the Man of the Match prize in every league game he featured in.

He has also provided two assists in a recent friendly against Germany as Japan won 4-1.

Many Barca fans were quick to remind themselves that the 22-year-old used to play in La Masia.

💭 Ayothezillian (Twitter): "Could have been our player now."

💭 Noah (Twitter): "If he were Brazilian, he'd be worth £100million."

💭 Stone (Twitter): "La Masia are the best academy in the whole world. Disappointed how the previous board just ruined everything."

💭 AGT (Twitter): "Made in La Masia but went to Madrid. No second chances for guys like him."

Takefusa Kubo was part of the Barcelona academy from 2011 to 2015. He was forced to leave after the club were punished for breaking the rules of registering young players.

In 2019, Kubo joined Real Madrid but never got a chance to succeed there. He currently plays for Real Sociedad, but Real Madrid still own 50 per cent of the economic rights for the player.

In February, it was reported that Xavi was interested in bringing Kubo back to Barcelona. However, the move hasn't materialised for now.
