Ivan Fresneda's new club confirmed

Ivan Fresneda has officially signed for Sporting Lisbon.

The Portuguese club landed the right-back for just €9m plus €3m in add-ons, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 18-year-old was heavily linked with Barcelona this summer. The club's new sporting director, Deco, reportedly pushed for the Spaniard's move but Xavi preferred Joao Cancelo instead.

Interestingly, Barca were said to have offered 8m plus 10m in variables for Fresneda – now he joins Sporting for a lower fee after Xavi blocked the defender's arrival.

Last season, the youngster was a star performer for Real Valladolid in La Liga.
