Ansu Fati sends clear message to Barcelona over his future

“I have a contract with Barca and my intention is to continue improving and growing there," Ansu Fati told Teledeporte after Spain won the UEFA Nations League against Croatia on Sunday.

Speaking further Fati said: "That is my intention. I have a contract and I'm happy. Both in my club and in the National Team."

Fati, who became a champion with his country for the first time, was grateful to former Barca manager Luis Enrique, who was sacked after the World Cup. He also appreciated the impact of current Spain gaffer Luis De Fuente.

“I am grateful to the previous coach [Luis Enrique] and the current one [Luis de la Fuente]," Fati said.

"Also with the president [Luis Rubiales] and the sports director [Albert Luque], who always give me confidence and tell me to keep fighting.

"Every time I come here I feel very good, I want to continue fighting for this country," he added.

After being initially omitted from the first squad released by De La Fuente, Fati certainly staked a solid claim for his inclusion in future Spain squads with his performance in the Nations League semi-final and final.

The Barca forward has been steadily getting back to his best after surviving a full season without any serious injury. Fati's seven goals in La Liga last season were only bettered by Celta's Gabri Viega among players aged 20 or under.
