Gerard Pique played his part in Barcelona’s La Liga title-winning campaign before retiring just before the Qatar World Cup.
He made six appearances for the Blaugrana. While he's not eligible for a winners medal due to his retirement, the Spaniard will be considered a champion.
Joan Laporta was asked after Barca sealed the league title if the ex-defender will be invited to the title-winning celebrations and said: “I called him yesterday morning, but I couldn’t talk to him. This league is also his, he has competed, and he has been with us.”
Pique reportedly shares tensions with Joan Laporta and his regime for not paying him some unpaid wages.
The Barca president hasn’t exactly confirmed his presence in the title celebrations, so it remains to be seen if the Spaniard will turn up to receive his winners medal with Barca.
