'Insane disrespect': Barca fan defends Lewandowski with striker heavily criticized for post-World Cup form

Robert Lewandowski has only scored nine goals for Barcelona in 17 games since the World Cup. It's a clear dip in form for a player who was averaging 0.95 goals per game before travelling to Qatar to represent Poland.

Hence it's no surprise that some Barca fans have started to criticize Lewa for his apparent lack of cutting edge since the World Cup.

Like this fans on Reddit eescobar863:

"Calling out Lewa’s form since the World Cup is considered constructive criticism. No one is safe from that. Because let’s face it, Lewa has been poor since the season resumed. And it’s not just Lewa. The entire attack right now is toothless. They struggle to score and that’s not ideal."

BlackFanDiamond: "Lewy has been in a rut of form since World Cup and this also coincides with Xavi playing the four-man midfield, forcing him to be isolated."

Another Barca fan SpiritualBet6 has launched a strong defence of Lewandowski, claiming the criticism on the big striker is rather harsh.

"Insane disrespect to Lewandowski," SpiritualBet6355 writes.

"Guy is a big reason Barca ever got to the top of the table. 23 GA in La Liga, 6 more than Benzema who had 5 penalties and a much more creative supporting cast. He scored the most openers in the league.

"Perhaps he should go back to Bayern considering they still struggle to find a replacement who can score half his outputs and Barca can go back to the likes of Memphis, Auba, De Jong, and Braithwaite so fans can be happy."

Lewandowski has not scored the alarming number of goals he usually registers for Bayern Munich, but his tally of 27 goals and 7 assists in 36 games is hardly bettered by any striker in Spain. The 34-year-old remains on course to win the golden boot in Spain while also helping Barca win La Liga.
