Why Lewandowski was asked to read fans' abusive messages aloud – explained

To emphasise women's important role in modern football, Robert Lewandowski and Barca Femeni player Mapi Leon have been asked to read some of the fans' unpleasant messages about women in football.

Here are some of the comments the Pole read aloud.

"We don't give a f**k about you!"

"You wouldn't even be a starter in my town's local team."

"No one wants to watch your games."

"NO ONE CARES!"

"You should adapt the rules for them."

"GO TO THE KITCHEN!!!"

"It's time to get kitchen d'Or also."

Surely, it all sounds disrespectful, especially given that Barca Femeni are actually making history these days, breaking one record after another and making the whole club even more famous.

Lots of Barca fans attend the women team's matches, so it makes no sense to say that people don't care about it.

Globally, tournaments like the women's Champions League or European Championships/World Cups are gaining popularity too.

And yeah, today is the International Women's Day! Congrats to every woman who celebrates it 🙌
