Back in 2008, when Karim Benzema played for Lyon, he told Mundo Deportivo that he would love to join Barcelona one day.
The Catalans were actually looking for a new striker and Benzema was their priority target for some time, according to Marca. Barca's technical secretary Txiki Begisristain [who currently works at Man City] even paid a visit to the Frenchman's home to convince him to sign for Blaugrana.
The Barca boss reportedly did not like Benzema's behaviour, as well as his friendhips. Begisristain even said that the player 'did not look into his eyes' during the conversation.
Barcelona decided against signing the forward as they were afraid of his adaptation issues.
In 2009, Benzema signed for Real Madrid. He has become a legend of the Whites; however, it took much time for him to make a real statement in the world of football.
