OFFICIAL: Coutinho joins Aston Villa on loan

Phillipe Coutinho has completed a loan move to Aston Villa, it has been confirmed.

The Brazilian leaves Barcelona until the end of the season. The Premier League side has a non-mandatory option to buy the attacker.

Aston Villa will also pay part of the player's salary at Barcelona.

Coutinho joined Barcelona on a club-record fee of £142m in 2018. Phil has failed to live up to expectations at Camp Nou, scoring 25 goals and providing 14 assists in 106 appearances across all competitions.

His contract with the Catalans expires in 2023.

The Brazilian will team up with his former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard, who is currently the head coach of Aston Villa.
