Official: Treble-winning coach Cortes leaves Barca Femeni

Lluis Cortes, who has recently won the treble with Barcelona's women team, is leaving Barca, the club have confirmed.

He has informed the team that the game against Eibar will be his last one in charge of Barca Femeni.

As explained by Mundo Deportivo, there's weariness and a lack of energy after an eventful season.

Earlier, it was reported that the team's captains asked the club board to dismiss Cortes amid high training intensity.

Under the 34-year-old, Barca Femeni easily defended the Primera title, won Copa de la Reina and thrashed Chelsea in the Champions League final.

Barca Femeni star could become 'the most expensive female player in the world' – for less than €1m

Women's Olympique Lyonnais side have made an offer of €500k for Barca Femeni midfielder Aitana Bonmati.

If Blaugrana accept the offer, she will become the most expensive female player in the world, even though the transfer fee doesn't seem to be huge at all.

Currently, the most expensive female footballer is Denmark's Penille Harder who joined Chelsea from Wolfsburg for about €300k in 2020.

Bonmati has been part of Barcelona since 2012, scoring 14 goals in 53 appearances for the first team.
