'I talked to Messi after Bolivia game, the Argentine players were gasping for breath': Koeman plays Leo despite tough international schedule

"I had a brief WhatsApp conversation with Leo Messi after the game he played with Bolivia. The Argentine players were constantly gasping for breath," Ronald Koeman has told AD.

"I wondered: can he immediately play for us when he returns? But Messi has been used to that for years."

After playing two full matches for Argentina, Leo went on to start in Barcelona's away clash against Getafe. Despite the tough schedule, the captain looked rather fresh during the match and came close to scoring.
