'Complements Jackson like few strikers': fan makes case for signing ex-Blue — not Abraham

Chelsea are likely to be looking for a new striker this summer, and plenty of names are being mentioned, from Victor Osimhen to Benjamin Sesko.

Even former Blue Tammy Abraham was mentioned at one point, although he's far from his best having barely recovered from a very serious injury.

Meanwhile, one other former Chels is not talked about that much even though he has scored 18 goals in the Premier League this season.

Dominic Solanke has had a breakthrough season at Bournemouth, and ExpectedChelsea on Twitter argues that it is time for him to come back to Stamford Bridge — not just for sentiments, but because it makes sense.

The fan tweeted: "Dominic Solanke complements Nicolas Jackson like few strikers on the market.

"1. His underlying metrics have been very decent in different contexts - on a dominant team, on a struggling one and mid-table.

"2. Entering his prime.

"3. Understands physical development in the PL.

"The likes of Osimhen are not worth the money quoted. The likes of Sesko are too raw to be taken seriously in the PL.

"Solanke lies in the sweet-spot in the middle. Worth remembering that he's just 26 — players of his physical profile peak between 28 and 32.

"Solanke has been through the journey of missing chances, learning to use his body, transitioning across different play-styles - all of which are invaluable in our context.

"His ability to occupy the box (among the best in the PL) will be a big game-changer against low blocks."
