After joining Chelsea in a £107 million deal, Enzo Fernandez hinted at an enormous potential in the second half of the 2022/23 season.
Since then, however, things have gone downhill so that Chelsea don't even appear to miss him.
In 2024, Chelsea have not lost a single game when Fernandez was not on the pitch. In particular, they've won three out of the last four matches without him with an aggregate score of 13-0.
However, we should not overplay the importance of those numbers.
First, Chelsea have actually been quite good after the turn of the year. In the Premier League, they have only lost three out of 15 league games, winning seven and drawing five times.
Second, Fernandez himself has revealed that he was playing through pain for about six months, meaning that we could not have seen him at his best in that period.
Hopefully, the injuries will be left behind, and Enzo can contribute to the team's rise further up the table next season.
