Enzo Fernandez undergoes surgery ruling him out for the season

Enzo Fernandez has undergone surgery on his inguinal hernia that is set to rule him out for the remainder of the season.

This has been confirmed by an Instagram story by Valentina Cervantes, the wife of the Chelsea midfielder.

Chelsea confirmed the news with the following statement: "Enzo Fernandez has today undergone successful surgery on a groin issue and will now begin a period of rehabilitation, sidelining him for the remainder of Chelsea’s 2023/24 season.

"The 23-year-old midfielder will work with the club's medical department on his rehabilitation at Cobham."

Fernandez played through injury in the last games and was visibly off his best.

Now, he hopes to recover in time for Copa America taking place in the United States from June 20.
