Xavi blames referee for Barcelona's Champions League exit — Chelsea fans remind him of something

Barcelona have been knocked out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage after being defeated 4-1 by PSG on Tuesday night.

After winning 3-2 in the first leg, Barca took a 12th-minute lead against PSG in the second leg at home.

Things unravelled quickly for the hosts soon after as Ronald Araujo was sent off in the 29th minute for a last-man foul on Barcola. A clear red, as the VAR agreed with the on-field referee.

Xavi was also sent off in the second half for an over-exuberant penalty appeal.

Speaking after Barca's defeat against PSG, Xavi said about referee Istvan Kovacs: “It’s a pity, our Champions League is over due to the referee’s mistake.

“I just told the referee that he’s been a disaster. It’s the reality”.

Xavi's reality is clearly very different from the rest of the footballing world, most of whom would agree that it was a stonewall red card.

Either way, Xavi was able to rile up Chelsea fans, as their club was on the receiving end of legitimately unfair decisions back in 2008/09.

LiamBatey: "What goes around comes around Xavi lad just ask Ovrebo 😜"

Mo: "Xavi, please. Ovrebo's shit show was a robbery. This was just football where your team couldn't cope without all the machinery!"

HillaryRemy: "Xavi was on the pitch when Tom Ovrebo robbed Chelsea, he enjoyed it. He was on the pitch when Robin Van Persie was given a stupid second yellow at Camp Noun. He enjoyed it.

"He’s a manager today. Now he would understand what robbery looks like. Now he would understand what those managers felt like when he and his teammates were celebrating robbery.

"He should stop capping and go to bed."
