Explained: How Lamine Yamal could aid Chelsea's €60m transfer

Chelsea have been linked with a Brazilian wonderkid Estevao Willian, also known as Messinho. However, the Blues were said to be behind Barcelona in the race to sign him.

A fresh report in Catalan source Diario Sport claims that Barca are likely to give up their pursuit of the 16-year-old.

That's because they have La Masia star Lamine Yamal, who is of the same age and plays in the same position. The La Liga champions want to build the team around Yamal and are worried that signing Messinho could obstruct his development.

Messinho, who turns 17 this month, has made six first-team appearances for Palmeiras. His release clause reportedly stands at €60m.
