One staggering stat shows how much Chelsea changed since 2022 League Cup final

Chelsea lost to Liverpool 1-0 in extra time of the League Cup final last Sunday. The final was a repeat of the 2022 showdown in which the Reds triumphed on penalties.

Trevoh Chalobah came on for the Blues in the second half of extra time in the 2024 final. The defender is the only Chelsea player to feature in both finals, 2022 and 2024.

The fact that there is only one man to play in both games shows how much the Blues have changed in just two years. For the sake of comparison, nine players in Liverpool's matchday squad last Sunday were in the squad two years ago.

Ben Chilwell, who played on Sunday, was injured in 2024 while Thiago Silva and Reece James were in the squad in 2022 but were not available for this year's final.
