Nkunku added to Chelsea injury list — Poch shares return timeframe

Christopher Nkunku has been added to Chelsea's list of injured players. The club's official states that the Frenchman is undergoing medical assessment.

Speaking at the press conference, Mauricio Pochettino said: "We learned yesterday Nkunku got injured but we don’t know when he got injured."

"It's difficult for him," Poch added: "It’s difficult for him. We watched him when he arrived in pre-season. He was flying on the training pitch until he got injured.

"Now it is nearly eight months and he has been involved again but it is not the same player as before. We have in our head the amazing Nkunku from pre-season but it is not the same player because of the circumstances. That’s why it is sometimes unfair when we judge.

"We need to see. At the moment, it's three or four weeks maybe out. We hope no more."

The forward suffered a knee injury in the pre-season and returned only in December. He's made a total of ten first-team appearances, of which only two were starts, contributing two goals.

The 26-year-old played 53 minutes against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final last Sunday, coming on as a second-half substitution.
