Mauricio Pochettino gave a slightly positive update on which Chelsea players are closing in on a return from their injury issues.
He said after the Preston North End win: “We are so close with Chilwell, Badiashile and Chukwuemeka but we need to see every day the evolution. Then it's about if we can improve but they are so close. Always the risk is really important and seeing how the players perform in the training session
“All of the players when they go to the session all feel they are ready. If you ask they say 'I know myself' but 99.9 per cent they make a mistake. They don't know themselves. Our opinion is good to see if they are available or not.”
It appears that Chelsea will at least get a boost in terms of options in their backline, with Chilwell’s imminent return giving Pochettino the opportunity to play a natural left-back in that role.
Badiashile and Chukwuemeka are both impressive squad options who can be rotated to keep the other players fresh, and can both add something different to the Blues in the key fixtures ahead.
