Pochettino names reason why he was 'little disappointed' with Palmer's display vs Preston

When asked about how he felt about Cole Palmer getting another assist in Chelsea’s win over Preston North End, Mauricio Pochettino said: “Very impressed. I think he arrived the last day of the transfer window and his performance after six months, was incredible.

“We are so happy. Today a little bit disappointed with him because he didn't score a big chance he has. He is still young and still needs to improve in different areas, not only inside the pitch but outside.

“He needs to understand many things but I think he is improving a lot and he is a very good player for us and he is doing fantastic and I am so pleased.”

Palmer did have a huge chance to score in the first half, but ended up scuffing it after trying a bit too much inside the box. He did make up with assisting Thiago Silva’s goal and also earned the free-kick leading to Raheem Sterling’s strike.

Even though the Englishman already has 15 goal contributions in 20 appearances for Chelsea, it’s clear that he can do even better if he can improve certain aspects that Poch wants him to.
