"The first half I was a little disappointed. We started so sloppy. I told the players at half-time we needed to increase the energy and match that of Preston," Mauricio Pochettino said after the Preston game.
"The second half was a completely different game. We dominated, created chances and deserved victory.
"We showed a lack of desire in the first half and we were talking too much about their energy. They were better than us in this area.
"I was really disappointed but after we increased our level we started to play and deserved to win," the Chelsea boss added.
Chelsea were indeed poor in that first half against Preston as the visitors seemed to show more intent than their filthy-rich hosts. However, Chelsea managed to go into the break 0-0.
In the second half, the Blues showed ore intensity and desire. The result was a thrilling 4-0 win with Broja, Sterling, Silva and Enzo getting the goals.
Chelsea will now take this as a confidence booster going into their EFL Cup semi-final against Middlesborough on Tuesday.
