'We firmly believe': Chelsea reject European Super League in official statement

The idea of the European Super League is back on everyone's mind today after a court ruled that neither FIFA nor UEFA have the power to block the clubs' participation in competitions such as the ESL.

Chelsea, who were one of the founding members of the ESL back in April 2021 but pulled out after fans' protest, have issued a statement explicitly rejecting the competition.

"The judgment issued today by the European Court of Justice does not change Chelsea FC’s position," the statement reads.

"We firmly believe that, by working with the Premier League, The FA, other European clubs through our strong relationship with the ECA, and with UEFA and FIFA, we can, together, continue to develop the European game for the benefit of everyone."
