Lyon interested in signing 22-year-old Chelsea defender (reliability: 4 stars)

Lyon are interested in signing Chelsea and France defender Benoit Badiashile on loan, as per reports from Foot Mercato.

The French side have endured a difficult start to their Ligue 1 campaign and are looking to reinforce their backline in the January window.

Badiashile spent a number of years with Lyon's rivals Monaco so he is definitely familiar with league.

He has been getting more game time of late, having recovered from injury and would be hoping to lockdown his place in the heart of the Chelsea defence.

Lyon have good relations with Chelsea, which could make the move a possibility but the final decision will likely come down to Pochettino and whether he sees Badiashile as surplus to requirements this season.
