In the summer of 2019, Maurizio Sarri decided to leave Chelsea after just one season as the head coach to take over at Juventus. There, he would only last for a year as well.
Looking back, Sarri admits that leaving Chelsea for Juventus was the wrong decision.
"At Chelsea, I found it difficult to immerse myself in an atypical club, without a sporting director, where no coach could last two years," Sarri told La Repubblica.
"But then, in the last few months, I’ve had fun and I was wrong in wanting to leave, not so much from Chelsea, which would have also kept me, but from the Premier League, a context of unique beauty. Returning to Italy was a mistake."
Sarri's time is not viewed as an unquestionable success either at Chelsea or at Juventus — but he was able to win trophies at both clubs: the Europa League for the Blues and the last Serie A title so far for Juventus.
