Juve chief explains why they turned down Chelsea's Vlahovic bid: 'We were ready to accept'

Chelsea's links with Dusan Vlahovic in the summer did not materialise in anything real despite the Blues lacking a 'traditional' no. 9.

Now Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli has explained why the deal did not go through.

He said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano: “We received formal proposal from Chelsea for Dušan Vlahović… but it was not big enough.

“We were ready to accept in case of an important proposal, but Chelsea never raised the offer and the swap deal idea with Lukaku included collapsed.”

Vlahovic has four goals and an assist in six opening Serie A games so far this season. At the same time, the Blues have huge problems up front so perhaps they should have signed the Serbian.
