Romano explains why Gallagher likely to survive Chelsea rebuild — it has to do with Mason Mount

Conor Gallagher has been heavily linked with a summer exit from Chelsea as the midfielder is considered one of the players who could bring in much needed transfer fees to the club.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, the Englishman is now extremely likely to remain at Chelsea barring a late twist.

“Chelsea want to send a message to the young players in the squad with Conor Gallagher. Someone from Cobham has to be part of the squad," the reporter said on his Here We Go podcast.

"Conor Gallagher now has good chances to stay at Chelsea."

The midfielder is one of the few academy graduates remaining at Chelsea, with Lewis Hall and Mason Mount departing earlier in the window.
