Despite all the efforts and desire to leave Chelsea, Romelu Lukaku is still here with less than two weeks left before the end of the transfer window in Europe.
According to Mauricio Pochettino, there was nothing he could do to change the situation and persuade Lukaku to commit himself to the club.
"Romelu Lukaku situation was clear before I arrived between the club and the player. For us, there’s nothing to do," the Chelsea head coach said.
"It’s not only one side. It’s two sides. It’s two sides to try to find the best solution. You cannot put it only on the club."
Chelsea had two offers on the table for Lukaku. One of them, from Saudi side Al Hilal, is likely to be retracted after they signed Aleksandar Mitrovic from Fulham.
The other is from Juventus despite the racial abuse Lukaku suffered at their stadium at the end of the last season.
