Ajax coach on Chelsea's interest in Kudus: 'If he stayed a year, real top clubs would come'

Ajax head coach Maurice Steijn has all but confirmed Chelsea's interest in Mohammed Kudus.

However, he pointed out that he was trying to talk the Ghana international out of the move.

"I feel that if he stayed another year, the real top clubs would come for him," Steijn said, as quoted by De Telegraaf.

"If we become champions and he scores twenty goals, he might go for double. We're trying to tell him that."

According to The Athletic, Chelsea have already made contact with Ajax over Kudus and are close to reaching an agreement over personal terms.

The 24-year-old is keen on leaving Ajax after rejecting a one-year contract extension a few months ago.
