Chelsea face Real Madrid competition for Lautaro Martinez (reliability: 5 stars)

According to The Times, Chelsea and Real Madrid are set to fight over the signing of Inter striker Lautaro Martinez.

The Blues are eager to sign a centre-forward this summer, and Martinez features highly on their shortlist.

Mauricio Pochettino, in particular, believes the fellow Argentinian to be one of the best strikers in the world.

However, Real Madrid are also in need of a No.9 after Karim Benzema's departure to Saudi Arabia. They are also looking at Kai Havertz, although some previous reports suggested that the German is not viewed as a direct Benzema replacement.

It's not clear which move the 25-year-old would prefer after five years at Inter. Last season, Martinez scored 28 goals across all competitions.
