Potter talks formation switch

Graham Potter has switched back to a back-three at Chelsea over the past couple of games and it has reaped rewards. He spoke about this in his press conference today.

"We've had a few injuries which could change the dynamic of the side. We looked at the performance of the team... and the back three we felt was the better way to go."

Madueke on his mentality

"I think I realised I could be a professional footballer between the ages of 13 and 16," Noni Madueke told Chelsea's official website.

"Before that, I had a lot of belief in myself so I was telling myself every day I’m going to be a football player, but at around 13 to 16 I feel is the age when you start thinking “am I really good enough?”

"When I was about 15 or 16, that was it, I knew I’d be a professional footballer. I just thought it was impossible that I would not be a professional footballer! A lot of it’s a gut feeling. You’re probably the best player, even playing a year up against older players, and I was playing for England, so that’s probably when I thought “I can do this”.

"But it’s not as simple as A, B, C. A lot of people playing for top academies, playing for England, don’t make the jump. But I knew I’d make the jump just because of my mentality. I wouldn’t allow myself not to."

Potter praises Dyche

Sean Dyche has recently taken over at Everton, who are Chelsea's next opponents. Graham Potter lavished praise on Dyche ahead of the clash between the two.

"Wherever they are, it's always difficult. He's a fantastic coach, his record is impressive to do what he did with Burnley. You can see the effect he's had on Everton. We have to play well."
