6 shirt numbers Chelsea could offer Benoit Badiashile

Benoit Badiashile is expected to be Chelsea's first signing in the January transfer window who will be introduced straight to the first team.

Fabrizio Romano has already unleashed his trademark 'here we go' as the Blues agreed a €38m deal with Monaco.

At the French club, Badiashile is wearing a No. 5 shirt - but it is occupied by Jorginho at Stamford Bridge, so the Frenchman will have to settle for a number change. Here are six of the options.

No. 2. The number usually reserved for right-sided defenders, it was previously worn by Antonio Rudiger who often played on the left of the back three at Chelsea. As a left-footer, Badiashile could be his successor.

No. 3. A more likely option as it was historically worn by left-sided defenders, like Wayne Bridge, Ashley Cole and Marcos Alonso.

No. 4. This shirt is vacant after Andreas Christensen's departure. Before that. it was worn by Cesc Fabregas, David Luiz and Claude Makelele - some very different players.

No. 15. This number has been available for almost 18 months since Kurt Zouma's move to West Ham.

No. 25. Not the likeliest option: even though it's not officially retired, no one wore it since Gianfranco Zola. It's been almost 20 years.

No. 27. Another number that has been out of use for a few years. Andreas Christensen was the last player to wear this shirt before swapping it for a No. 4 one in 2019.

Which number do you think Badiashile should receive?
