Edouard Mendy has received stick from football fans for not preventing England's second and third goals. These were not clear-cut chances as Kane's and Saka's shots were definitely saveable.
Here's Kane goal. Mendy rushes off the line, which is the right thing to do.
Kane aims for the far corner. You'd expect Mendy to save it but the Chelsea goalie tries to protect the near corner. He doesn't properly jump and concedes.
Mendy is at the near corner when the ball hits the net in the opposite direction.
Here's England's third. Foden plays the ball inside the box to Saka:
Mendy leaves his position but doesn't make the final step to try to intercept the ball.
Mendy again tries to protect the near corner while Saka aims for the far corner and scores.
These are not huge blunders such as gifting the ball to Benzema against Real Madrid last season. However, we know Mendy is perfectly capable of saving these shots, as he previously demonstrated with Chelsea.
