How has Tomori been for AC Milan so far? Tribuna's Italian editors answer

First impressions

Fikayo Tomori arrived at AC Milan as the last option for the Rossoneri defence according to the fans, but things have changed really fast.

When Paolo Maldini brought the English CB to Milan, he was absolutely sure Tomori would firmly establish himself under manager Stefano Pioli, and after one month we can say he was completely right.

Since his arrival, thanks to Simon Kjaer’s poor physical condition and Alessio Romagnoli's mistakes, Tomori has played 6 games in the Milan jersey already.

It has been clear since the very first minutes on the field that Fikayo is not just a substitute but has enormous potential and deserves to play more.

Player Assessment

Appearances: He has played 6 games, [3 in Serie A, 1 in Coppa Italia, 2 in Europa League].

Speed: He is one of the fastest defenders in Serie A already, reaching the peak speed of 34.02 km/hr against Roma.

Positioning: He has already managed 10 interceptions, 12 blocks and has been dribbled past only 1 time in the 6 games he has played. His average rating in Serie A is a solid 6.5 out of 10.

Physicality: He isn't the tallest at 6 ft but he has used his body well, winning 29 duels, 19 of which were in the air.

Passing skills: His passing has also been excellent, with a pass completion percentage of 90%.

Verdict

AC Milan have a reported €28m deal with Chelsea to buy him [The Guardian], but Maldini would like to buy him for €20/25m.

Anyway, it seems to be a good deal at that price and Milan will most likely push hard to buy him. Who knows, maybe he could have been better than Thiago Silva or Antonio Rudiger even this season for the Blues.
