Alan Smith expressed his support for Gabriel Martinelli despite the latter's struggles in front of goal this season.
Martinelli's season has been hampered by injuries, missing crucial parts of the campaign while recovering.
Upon his return, Martinelli has failed to find the back of the net despite ending 2022/23 with 15 goals and five assists in the Premier League.
This time, the Brazilian has registered only six goals and the former Arsenal striker believes he will still come good.
Quoted by DAZN, Smith said: "There’s been a decline in form. He’s had one or two injuries which have kept him out and limited his game time.
"At one stage I’d say Arsenal were dependent on him on that left hand side, so the good thing is that they clearly don’t miss him as much as they did before because you’ve now got Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz who can slot in there as well as Leandro Trossard.
"I think he can still play a massive part in Arsenal’s season because he’s such a fantastic player when he’s fit – he can be unstoppable at times and he’s been a brilliant player for the club over the past couple of years."
