Mikel Arteta: 'Jurrien Timber still not ready to play for Arsenal'

Arsenal take on Sheffield United in the Premier League on Monday in search of three precious points as the title race heats up.

Jurrien Timber has been missing from action since he made his Premier League debut. However, he returned to first-team training earlier this week.

That led to speculation he may feature against Sheffield United but, unfortunately, Mikel Arteta has ruled that out.

When asked about Timber's fitness, Arteta told reporters: "Sorry, Jurrien is still not close enough to be part of the squad on Monday."

Arteta was then asked about the centre-back's attitude amid the setback, to which he replied: "The physios and medical staff have been impressed with his attitude.

"Now we have to manage because it’s the last stage of that difficult injury but I think he’s in the right way."
