Arsenal have their eyes on Ajax’s promising young defender Jorrel Hato ahead of the summer transfer window, claims Fabrizio Romano.
The Gunners have been scouting the 17-year-old centre-back, who can also operate as a left-back, for many months and monitoring his impressive performances at the senior level.
With that being said, Arsenal could face competition for the defender as he is being scouted by many other top European clubs too.
Another major stumbling block is that Hato is set to sign a new long-term contract with Ajax soon, with his current deal expiring next year.
The new contract is not going to have a release clause, which could make it tricky for the Gunners or any other club to sign him for a respectable fee in the summer.
Arsenal shares a good working relationship with Ajax, having signed defender Jurrien Timber from the Dutch club last year.
Hato has made 30 appearances in his breakthrough season at the Dutch club, scoring a goal and providing three assists.
