Arsenal ready to hijack Newcastle United move to sign one Saudi Pro League midfielder in January (reliability: 3 stars)

Arsenal have made it a priority to bolster their midfield options in the January transfer window after Thomas Partey’s latest injury, claims Talksport’s Alex Crook.

In fact, the Gunners are now willing to hijack Newcastle United’s move to sign Al Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves in the winter window.

Arsenal sporting director Edu is reportedly a big fan of the Portuguese midfielder and has admired him for a long time.

Newcastle can find it tough to sign Neves if Premier League clubs pass a voted motion banning their clubs from loaning players from their own ownership groups.

Neves can be an ideal fit for Mikel Arteta’s system and has plenty of experience of playing in the English top flight with Wolves.

He has made 17 appearances in all competitions for Al Hilal, scoring two goals and providing an assist.
