Mikel Arteta pledges to 'dig for victory' as Arsenal and Manchester City both face pivotal games

In Sunday's Premier League D-Day, Arsenal and Manchester City are set to battle it out at opposite ends of the country, and Mikel Arteta is expected to dig deep for victory.

He said: "We are going to continue to dig — dig, dig, dig, dig. And maybe the prize is there."

"We don’t know if it’s there [points one way] or there [points another] but we are going to continue to dig just in case it is where we can get to and make sure that we can do our best."

Arteta will be hoping for a favour from Sean Dyche's Everton, the club where he made a name for himself as a midfielder in England. Not only does he aim for his current team's success, but he also wants his former club to avoid relegation.

He said: "They are playing for their life right now and you could see that in the last game against Brighton."

"Sean has instilled that belief again and that cohesion around the team and the fans to create something special. As a huge Everton fan, I want the best for them and that’s not going to change this weekend."
