Aubameyang: 'I stay here because I love the fans, the people whose hearts bleed Arsenal'

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has opened up on the role Arsenal supporters played in his decision to renew his contract with the club.

"I want to be someone fans can remember for a long time," he is quoted in the club's official pre-West Ham programme.

"It's all about what the fans think of you, the people whose hearts bleed Arsenal, that's what is most important. They are everything. I respect you the fans so much, even when you are angry if things haven't worked out right – that's football and it's passion.

"I stay here because I love the fans, they have shown me love since I arrived and it always amazes me."

Aubameyang, undoubtedly Arsenal's best player ever since he joined from Borussia Dortmund back in January 2018, became a captain last year.

He has shown remarkable leadership and ability to rally the ream forward, setting an example with game-changing goals and assists.

Auba has scored 72 goals in just 111 appearances, and his scoring rate is better than that of Arsenal legends Ian Wright and Thierry Henry.

And his decision to extend the expiring contract despite interest from big sides made a big statement, as one of the best forwards in the world today has made a choice of staying at north London in order to try to bring the club back to our former glory.

Speaking of legacy, he already has one as Auba stayed on while others, such as Aaron Ramsey or Robin van Persie, left Arsenal for pastures new.

We hope he'll lead Arsenal to more trophies in the near future, having already played a huge role in the FA Cup and Community Shield triumphs.
