Kylian Mbappe asked about his 'ego', provides incredible response that proves he has elite 'CR7 mentality'

"Of course it's important, because when you're having a tough time, no one other than yourself is going to push you," Kylian Mbappe told RMC of the importance of egotism in football.

"And you have to convince yourself that you are capable of toppling mountains. People don't understand ego, but when you are not doing well, there's no one who will come to your house to tell you that you are able to do that.

"It is only you and your mindset. You have to persuade yourself that you are capable of doing great things. Every time I go on a pitch, I always tell myself that I'm the best and yet I have played on pitches where there was Messi and Cristiano.

"They are better players than me, they've done a billion more things than me. But in my head, I always tell myself that I'm the best, because that way you don't give yourself limits and you try to give the best of yourself.

"Of course, sometimes people don't understand because I think that there is perhaps also this barrier that is created in relation to this subject, where one does not really explain what ego is.

"People will think ego is not giving a penalty to a friend, or to have a better salary than the player on the rival team.

"It's not just that, it's also in the preparation. It's something personally, surpassing yourself, it's really beyond this superficial thing of saying 'me I, me I'. But I think there's quite a lot to be said about that."

The striker has managed to score 30 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

He will enter the final year on his contract with PSG in the summer and rumours strongly link him with a move to Santiago Bernabeu in the coming transfer window.

‘You can’t force a woman to go out with you’. Tuchel reveals what he told Timo Werner about his finishing

When asked about Timo Werner’s confidence levels after failing to score a sitter from yards out for Germany against North Macedonia in a World Cup qualifier recently, Thomas Tuchel said: “If a woman doesn’t want to go out with you, you cannot force her. Step back and maybe she will call you.

“He scores for us, he's doing assists, he's winning penalties. So if this is the most critical point in your career, you can accept it and say, 'it's pretty impressive so far'.

“Now is the moment not to think about it, not to read about it and not even to train extra. Yesterday I sent him in from training because he wanted to do some finishing.

“I said, 'you don't need that. Your body, your brain knows how to score. You did it since you were six years old. So don't worry, it will come.' The best thing to do is to work hard and be fearless.”

Werner has struggled to really get going at Chelsea this season but put in some better performances under Tuchel’s stint despite not starting every game. The German has scored 10 goals and registered as many in 39 appearances (in all competitions) this season and is looking to help Chelsea go all the way in the FA Cup and Champions League.

'I've been sharing prizes with him'. What Cristiano told reporter after beating Leo Messi in the Champions League

"I have always had a cordial relationship with Messi," Cristiano Ronaldo told Movistar via ESPN back in December.

"As I have said before, for 12, 13, 14 years, I have been sharing prizes with him. I never saw him as a rival. He always tried the best for his team, and I tried the best for mine. I always got on well with him. I am sure he will say the same if you ask him.

"But we know in football, people always look for a rivalry to create more excitement.

"It's always beautiful to play against him. Obviously people will talk about our rivalry when we meet, but for me it's just a great privilege.

"Messi is the same as ever [on the pitch]. Barcelona are in a difficult moment, but they are still Barca. I am sure they will come out of it. All teams have bad runs, but Barcelona are a very good team."

Earlier in the season, Barcelona faced off against Juventus in the group stages of the Champions League.

In December, it was Ronaldo who came out on top, scoring two penalties to help his Juve side to a comfortable 3-0 win over Barcelona top the group.

In the reverse fixture, Barcelona had beaten Juventus 2-0, with Messi also scoring a penalty.
