Newly-crowned Turkish champion admits Basaksehir's title win is 'unique' because his side 'basically don't have any fans' in probably saddest ever interview after winning a league

"Yes, it's unique. Also because we basically don't have any fans. In Istanbul, everyone is a fan of Galatasaray, Fenerbahce or Besiktas," Istanbul Basaksehir winger Eljero Elia told NOS of his side's win in the 2019/20 Turkish league.

"The title is on the resume of the club and the players will be legends of the club. But that's it."

Basaksehir won the Super Lig title after they beat Kayserispor 1-0 at home on Sunday as they secured a 7-point advantage over 2nd placed Trabzonspor with one game to go this term.

Well, it's hard to expect the club which was founded in 1990 to have a massive army of supporters especially since such giants as Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Besiktas are all based in the same city.

Elia also knows what he is talking about as he previously won the Serie A with Juventus and the Eredivisie with Feyenoord.
