Why Man United are likelier to pursue Jean-Clair Todibo transfer over two other targets: explained

Man United are going to push for the signing of a quality centre-back in the summer window after seeing injuries cause major shortages in that department this season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a lot of emphasis should be put on the Red Devils’ links to OGC Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo.

There is a chance that Man United could sign the promising Frenchman for around £40m, and no special discount will be given despite Sir Jim Ratcliffe owning Nice.

The Red Devils have also been strongly linked to Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer as well as Bayer Leverkusen man Edmond Tapsoba.

However, Bremer’s release clause will only become active in the summer of 2025 and signing Tapsoba will be very expensive after his heroics with Leverkusen this season.

Even though Man United are continuing to scout different profile of centre-backs, Todibo is likeliest to be the most viable option from these three candidates.

Todibo has been one of Ligue 1’s best defenders this season, helping Nice keep 14 clean sheets in just 25 matches.
