Real Madrid and Andriy Lunin are close to finalising a new contract agreement, reports The Athletic.
Lunin has enjoyed a fine season, stepping up in the absence of Thibaut Courtois, who has missed the entire campaign due to knee injuries.
The Ukrainian international’s current contract with Los Blancos was set to expire in 2025 and following his breakthrough performances the club have been eager to tie him down to a new deal.
Now, it is being claimed that Lunin will indeed sign a new contract with Real Madrid which would keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until the summer of 2028.
As part of the renewal, the 25-year-old’s salary will be improved to reflect his status as Carlo Ancelotti’s first-choice goalkeeper in the absence of Courtois.
Lunin has made 29 appearances in all competitions so far this season, keeping 10 clean sheets in La Liga and two in the Champions League.
