Man United have produced some promising football and gone into half-time with a 1-0 lead over Newcastle United at Old Trafford.
A goal from Kobbie Mainoo in the 31st minute is enough to separate the sides so far. A number of Man United players have excelled so far, while a few individuals need to improve their performance levels.
Who have impressed
Kobbie Mainoo: Mainoo has been outwitting the Newcastle midfielders with his slick movement and link-up play. Making promising forward passes and produced a beautiful finish for his goal.
Amad Diallo: Amad has been a chaotic figure for the Newcastle backline. Timing his runs to perfection and brilliantly linking up with Bruno & co. Played a great pass to help set up the goal and has come close to scoring a few time with some stellar efforts.
Casemiro: Casemiro had a shaky start, but recovered superbly to keep Alexander Isak quiet. Made a brilliant goal-saving tackle to deny Gordon after Man United took the lead and also made a goalline clearance afterwards.
Sofyan Amrabat: Amrabat has been able to stretch his impressive form. Made a brilliant tackle to deny Newcastle an early opener and been defensively proactive with three tackles and two recoveries.
Need to improve
Alejandro Garnacho: Garnacho is not being able to get that involved in the attacking moves and hasn't really create much yet. Got into a nice goal-scoring position early in the half, but produced an underwhelming finish.
Scott McTominay: In his 250th appearance for Man United, McTominay just hasn't been impactful enough. He's only completed two passes and added nothing creatively. Needs to get into more scoring areas in the box to help Man United double their lead.
