Chelsea and Newcastle gain ground: Premier League table update ahead of Man United vs Arsenal

Man United are locked in a three-horse race for places in European competitions with Newcastle and Chelsea. While Erik ten Hag's team take to the pitch on Sunday, their rivals have already played their games on Saturday.

Newcastle shared points with Brighton 1-1, while Chelsea came from behind to beat Nottingham Forest 3-2.

As a result, both teams have a three-point lead over Man United who have a game in hand.

Man United need to finish sixth to qualify for the Europa League or seventh for the Conference League.

If they stay eighth, though, United will not play in Europe at all — unless they stun Man City in the FA Cup final for a place in the Europa League.
