According to Football Insider, a tier-three source, Manchester United have decided to part ways with Raphael Varane once his contract expires at the end of this season.
Varane had the option to extend his contract for another year but Man United will reportedly not trigger it.
The report claims the club have already held talks with the 30-year-old and it's been decided to let him go.
Varane has played 93 times across competitions since joining Man United in 2021. Injuries and illnesses have limited his impact, given the rough nature of the Premier League.
He missed the 2-2 draw with Liverpool due to an injury as well. Even when fit, there was a period where Erik ten Hag preferred playing Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire as the first-choice pairing this season.
If the report is true and Varane has been asked to leave, INEOS-led Man United need to prioritise signing a new centre-back.
