Van Dijk suggests where Man United's strength lies - not attack

Virgil van Dijk believes Liverpool only have themselves to blame after failing to see off Manchester United on Sunday.

Despite dominating on the stats sheet, Liverpool failed to make their chances pay and were held to a 2-2 draw after Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo both netted stunning goals.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Dutchman admitted that his side were second best in midfield, "We should've been 2-0 up at half-time," he said. "We had them under control.

"It's just a shame. It definitely feels like a loss at this point. We were wasteful with our chances and we gave them a lifeline.

"Unfortunately individual mistakes can happen in the game, but we still had so much time to put it right but we were in a rush. We were losing too many balls and too many challenges in midfield."
