'He wanted to make this step': Erik ten Hag opens up on Mason Mount move from Chelsea

Mason Mount will be in the Man United squad for the Chelsea game, and it will be the first time he'll return to Stamford Bridge since his transfer between the clubs last summer.

Addressing the rumours that Chelsea may have forced the midfielder out, Erik ten Hag suggested that he actively decided to join United.

"I don't think they wanted to sell him," Ten Hag told a press conference. "They wanted to keep him and offered him a new contract many times. But he wanted to make this step.

"We are very pleased he is a Manchester United player because he has great abilities and will contribute and become a big player for Manchester United."

Mount has just scored his first goal for United, having struggled with injuries throughout the campaign.
