Speaking about his latest squad, England head coach Gareth Southgate said: "Mason Greenwood is in our thoughts. We're all aligned, Mason, the club, his family and us.
"The best thing for him after these first few games is to stay with his club. It's clear on his performances he'd warrant being in the squad."
Southgate has included Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Tottenham's Harry Kane and Leeds' Patrick Bamford as his striker options for the games against Hungary, Andorra and Poland.
Greenwood was included in England's provisional Euro 2020 squad in June before pulling out with an unspecified injury before the tournament's start.
The 19-year-old has already scored two goals for Manchester United this season, getting on the scoresheet against Leeds and Southampton.
