'Tolerance line': Why Branthwaite goal allowed to stand on VAR check

Everton opened the scoring against Liverpool through Jarrad Branthwaite in the 27th minute.

The goal was subject to a VAR check, which determined that there was no offside in the build-up.

Here is a still from the replay with the lines on. It shows the goal was given basically because of Konate's arm.

Journalist Dale Johnson explains on Twitter: "Everton's goal was onside as Jarrad Branthwaite was within the tolerance level of the current offside technology (only single green line to Konate).

"Next season with the introduction of semi-automated technology, which has no tolerance level, it may well be disallowed."
