'A penalty for all football people on the planet': Klopp on Mac Allister – Doku incident

On-pitch referee Michael Oliver and VAR Stuart Atwell thought that Jeremy Doku's karate kick on Alexis Mac Allister in the added time of the Man City game was entirely within the rules of the game.

Liverpool drew the game 1-1 — if the Reds were awarded a penalty, it could have led to them winning the game.

"It’s a penalty for all football people on the planet," Jurgen Klopp said about the incident after the game in an interview with Sky Sports.

"If you think it is not one then maybe you aren't a football person.

"You agree that this situation in all other positions in the pitch is 100% a foul and a yellow card."

Klopp also asked the reporter if he would have given a penalty in this situation. He replied: "I'm not surprised VAR didn't overturn it because of the high bar."
